Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

The data controller is Nordic Model OÜ (registry code 17417619), the developer and operator of the JustMe app. For questions or requests, contact us at info@justmeapp.ee.

2. Our principle

JustMe is built so that we don't know who you are. We never ask for your name, email address, or phone number to use the app. Instead, the first time you open it you're given a randomly generated unique identifier (ID) that distinguishes your conversations from other users' — without ever being linked to your real identity.

3. What information we collect

We do NOT collect:

  • your name, email address, or phone number;
  • your IP address;
  • your location;
  • your date of birth (even for the Archetype feature, we only ask for the star sign and Chinese zodiac animal you choose, never your birth date).

You may voluntarily provide:

  • an age range (used to tailor the AI's tone to your age);
  • your Archetype selection (star sign + Chinese zodiac animal combination).

Technical information collected automatically:

  • basic device technical information (e.g. operating system version) and anonymous usage statistics (e.g. how often a given feature is used), for app performance and bug-fixing purposes. This data is never linked to the content of your conversations and is never used for advertising.

4. Conversations and how storage actually works

This is the most important part of this document, so we explain it in full.

  • When you start using JustMe, you're offered a choice about whether you want your conversations to be remembered. By default, conversation saving is turned on.
  • When saving is on, your conversations are kept on JustMe's servers, linked only to your random ID — never to your name, email, or any other directly identifying information.
  • Based on saved conversations, About Me can reflect back recurring patterns in your thinking, and you can pick up earlier conversations where you left off.
  • You can turn saving off at any time in Settings ("Don't save"). When saving is off, your conversations are not retained on our servers after the conversation ends.
  • You can permanently delete any conversation with one tap ("Burn") — this removes the data from our servers immediately and irreversibly.
  • Your messages are sent to the OpenAI API to generate a response (see section 6). This happens regardless of whether you've turned conversation saving on or off — the difference is only whether we keep the message on our server afterward. This applies everywhere in JustMe where you type something and receive an AI-generated response, not just in Chat — including Coach, Goals, and Self-Analysis within Grow & Discover.
  • Before you can send your first message anywhere in the app, the app shows a standalone screen explaining that your messages are sent to OpenAI for processing, and asks you to actively confirm ("I understand and agree") before you can start using any AI-based feature.

Important to remember: your random ID is not an "account." If you delete the app or switch devices, your earlier conversations and ID cannot be recovered — they are permanently lost.

5. Why we process your data (legal basis)

The content of your conversations may touch on your thoughts, feelings, and mental wellbeing, which under the GDPR can qualify as a special category of data (similar to health data). We therefore always process this data based on your explicit consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a) and Article 9(2)(a)). You can withdraw consent at any time by turning saving off or deleting your conversations.

The legal basis for processing anonymous technical usage statistics is our legitimate interest in keeping the service running and improving it (Article 6(1)(f)).

6. Who we share data with

  • OpenAI API — generates AI responses across JustMe's AI-based features (Chat, Coach, Goals, Self-Analysis). Your message content is sent to OpenAI for this sole purpose. Messages are sent to OpenAI's servers for processing, which may be located outside the European Union (e.g. the US); in that case we apply an appropriate international transfer mechanism (e.g. the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses). OpenAI processes this data under a Data Processing Agreement and those Standard Contractual Clauses, which contractually require OpenAI to apply data protection safeguards equivalent to those mandated by the GDPR — the same or an equal level of protection as JustMe itself provides. OpenAI does not use data sent via its API to train its models.
  • Payment providers — the Apple App Store and Google Play handle subscription payments; we never see or store your card details.
  • Analytics services — for limited, anonymized usage statistics.

We never sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

7. How long we keep data

  • Saved conversations are kept until you delete them yourself (Burn) or turn saving off and the conversation ends.
  • If you turn saving off entirely, conversation content is not retained after the conversation ends.
  • We retain anonymous technical usage statistics for service improvement for a limited period, in aggregated (not individual-user) form.

8. Minors

JustMe is intended for users aged 13 and up. For younger users, we adapt the AI's tone and content to be age-appropriate (more neutral language, no adult or medical content), and the AI does not steer or give direct advice on life-changing decisions. Because the app does not collect identifying information or date of birth, age-appropriate adaptation relies on the age range the user themselves provides — we have no technical way to verify it. If you are a parent and believe your minor child's use of the app requires your involvement, please contact us at info@justmeapp.ee.

9. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • find out what data we process about you;
  • correct your data;
  • delete your data yourself at any time, via "Burn" — this is the fastest method;
  • withdraw your consent (by turning saving off in Settings);
  • object to processing;
  • lodge a complaint with the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (www.aki.ee) if you believe we have processed your data incorrectly.

Because we don't collect identifying information, we have no technical way to link a request to a specific user other than through the in-app ID — so the in-app tools (Settings, Burn) are the fastest and most reliable way to exercise most of these rights.

10. Website and cookies

This privacy policy covers the JustMe app. Our website (justmeapp.ee) may use basic technical cookies for the site to function and anonymous web analytics. The website does not use tracking or advertising cookies.

11. Data security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures (e.g. encrypted data transfer) to protect your data from unauthorized access. Because we don't collect identifying information, the potential impact of any data breach is already inherently far more limited than for a typical account-based service.

12. Changes

We may update this privacy policy from time to time, for example as new features are added. We will notify you of material changes within the app. We recommend reviewing this policy periodically.
